Another band i was looking forward to seeing as part of Live Fest at the O2 in London. I wasn’t a big fan of many of the headliners apart The Hoosiers, just not my thing. So to get the opportunity to meet up with bands who are definitely more my kind of music. Lovely chaps and i look forward to hearing more from them very soon.

I am always a fan of supporting local talent. I missed their guest performance in Manchester as i was elsewhere and didn’t know them that well when they supported Yuck at Lancaster Library. I finally got chance to chat to them properly at the O2 in London where they were performing as part of Live Fest. We’d arranged to meet up at some point, it was just a case of us both finally being in the same place at the same time. It didn’t look it was going to happen until late on we finally bumped into each other as headliner Tinchy Stryder was leaving and we’d done our work there.

Continued opportunities at the Live & Unsigned showcases. Having heard that We Are The Ocean were featured on Radio 1 on the same i managed to sneak a few frames with the boys before they went on stage. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of the results but at least it’s another opportunity taken.

Continuing to try and make the most of the guest acts at the Live & Unsigned showcases. I finally managed to get some time with boys after their performance. There wasn’t a lot to play around in terms of location or time before they had to go back on the road. Again pretty happy with the results as i found a room with a piano and some chairs i could make some shapes with. As ever though i just wish i had more time.

We Beat The System. Newcastle.

I’d known the boys from We Beat The System since they took part in Live & Unsigned and won their alternative category at the finals. I took the opportunity to take a few frames in the dressing rooms. The results were pretty good, not 100% what i had in my mind, but certainly all good experience.

Does If Offend You Yeah? The Cockpit.

On a mission to seek out new music and see bands i’d never seen before i popped along to see Does It Offend You, Yeah? at The Cockpit, Leeds. So once again in line with an interview session at UK Undiscovered i got a pass for this. The support group, The Weeknights, were impressive it has to be said. This was, however, followed by the removal of all lighting gels and a flood of haze big enough to completely fill the venue. Now i love a challenge but this was literally shooting in the strobe-tastic fog! I was actually going to forget about these pics and give it up as a bad job but i’m glad i took the time to push Lightroom and the digital image to the extremes and see what i could come up with. i’m sure most people or live music purists won’t like them and they won’t appear on a picture editors desk anytime soon, but to be honest i don’t care. i love playing around with shapes and lights to see if i can create something more artistic than the standard, sometimes boring, pics. Everyone to their own i say!
